Purchasing Department

The Purchasing Division is responsible for the legal procurement of vehicles, equipment, goods, and services.

Responsible for bidding or renewal of annual contracts.

Writes bid specifications and advertises them in accordanced with notice requirements prescribed by the Texas Local Government Code.

Ensures that contracts are awarded either to the lowest responsible bidder or to the bidder who provides goods and services at the best value for the city of Marshall.

Assists department heads in planning and estimating budget requirements for purchasing vehicles, equipment, goods, and services.

Meets with vendors and sales representatives to determine if new products, goods, or services may be beneficial to the City.

Responsible for sale and/or disposal of vehicles, equipment, office machines, and furnishings and all other City owned property through auctions or other legal procedures.
